The pneumonia shot

Yesterday after work I went and got a pneumonia shot. The last time I had one I was in basic training at Fort Jackson. It wasn’t part of the initial round of immunizations administered when we first arrived. This was toward the end of training. I reported to the medical office, showed my ID, and started to remove my BDU cover up. The medic looked at me strange and said, “For this one, I need you to turn around and unbuckle your trousers.” She wasn’t joking. I got the shot right above my butt. Luckily times have changed. The pharmacist had me roll up my sleeve and it went in my right shoulder. I’m glad. Undoing my pants in Target would have been awkward and caused quite the scandal!
