If you are a side piece, friend with benefits, or you know you are not in a real relationship with someone, please do not do anything or expect anything from the other person on Valentine’s Day. As someone who has worked in the service industry for a long time, I have seen people go out of their way and spend a lot of money on someone who does not value them. And there are individuals who will accept dinner, a day at the spa, gifts, and a variety of other things and not give a thought, reciprocate, or care about your feelings. So if your “relationship” is not genuine, I encourage you to see it for what it is. Yes it is nice to have a date for Valentine’s Day. But it is not the end of the world if you don’t. And if you have a significant other and you don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, there is nothing wrong with that either. I believe we should appreciate our partners every day. Not just on February 14th.
