I placed an order online and went to the store to pick up my merchandise. The next day I got a survey in my email. I deleted it. Why you may ask? Because this corporation does not give me anything in return for my feedback.
When I go to work, I get paid. Money is exchanged for my time and talents. That is a fair transaction. So why should I tell a company what they are doing right and wrong if they are not going to give me anything in return? Someone within that organization or an outside firm came up with the idea to send out surveys to gauge the customer’s experience. It was pitched and approved, designed, sent out, and the results were eventually reported back to the higher ups. Hopefully they implement what they are told. And everyone along the way who was part of that project, got a paycheck out of it. So why shouldn’t I? Even if the survey takes 5 minutes, those are my five minutes they want me to give and technically work for them. Do I expect them to send me check or? No. But a gift card, a monetary amount off my next purchase, or points that can accumulate and be turned in for product will do just fine.
