I was binge watching old episodes of Melrose Place and remembering how I wore some of those style of clothes from the 90’s. I also recognized a few pieces from the store I was a keyholder at during that time. Another thing I noticed was if there was an event, everyone in the cast was present. Whether it be a birthday party, wedding, or fundraiser, all were in attendance. But does that happen in real life? No. Friends have their own stuff going on, they have outside obligations, and different interests. And so do we. It would be great if we could go to every festive occasion or gathering we are invited to and our friends do the same for us. But it is impossible.

This was also an opportunity for me to stop and do a check of my friend list. Something we should all do on a regular basis. I looked at who I was showing up for and asked myself if they were reciprocating. And it stings when the answer is no. But it is part of the reality of true life. Not what is shown on television.
