No more cold hands

This morning I was at work preparing for my first appointment. Another therapist who is new to massage therapy was also getting ready and began rubbing her hands together. She said she didn’t want to put cold hands on her client. I advised her to always have a pair of gloves in the car because that will keep her hands warm on the ride into work. Second, start the massage at the head and massage the scalp first. After a few moments her hands would be warmed and ready to start work on the neck and shoulders. She told me she had never thought of that and would remember it.

You never know what people will take away from their interactions with you. Some things are quickly forgotten, and others stay with you a long time. I am pleased I was able to give my coworker some helpful suggestions she can incorporate into her massage on a chilly morning. And I hope one day she can pass them on to another therapist with the same issue. I am also glad her clients won’t be startled by cold fingers on their skin. 😁
