What is the difference between helping and enabling? Hmmm… Here is what I have surmised.

When you help someone it is to give them assistance. It is usually a one time or temporary situation.

To enable someone is to consistently give them help on a long term basis. So much that they do not take care of their business on their own or not at all. You have also essentially made their business your problem.

Look at the people in your life. Who are you helping and who are you enabling? And now look at yourself. Who are you allowing to help you, and who is enabling you?
