One of the news stories this morning was how Doordash has placed a tip option for patrons to fill out before they receive their order. The broadcaster stated this could impact how fast someone receives their food. If the potential driver sees there is no tip, they can decline the pickup. I know there are people at home thinking, “Tipping is not required,” or “Drivers shouldn’t expect tips and need to get a better job.” But as someone who works in the service industry I can verify that gratuity may not be required, but it is always appreciated. And if people don’t feel appreciated, you are taking them for granted, or that you are cheap, you may not get the attention or product quality you feel you deserve. In this case, your food may sit there for a while before anyone comes to get it. And if you aren’t adding something extra for the driver, maybe not at all.
