I watched the Milli Vanilli documentary on Paramount. I wasn’t a fan of the group, but I interned at a Top 40/Dance Music station Mix Jamz 100.7 when they were at the height of their fame and later their downfall. It’s a very tragic story. Yes, they lied. But they were blamed for the whole lie when there were many who participated. But I understand why they went along with it. They were in their 20’s, hungry to be noticed, and next to broke and homeless. When someone offers you a golden opportunity that will take you where you want to go, you grab it. However when it all blew up, they were the ones who took the brunt of the shame and ridicule. Afterward, they grew apart. Fabrice managed to carve a life out for himself, but Rob died from a drug overdose several years later.
