The local morning news show named several companies who are having their Christmas hiring fair. I thought to myself, “Good luck!” A friend of mine is a manager at a major department store. He told me at their most recent job fair 35 people applied, but they only hired 4. The reason so many were turned away was because when interviewed, they stated they didn’t want to work evenings or weekends. Some even told HR, “Because I have to have a life.” Really? Folks, if you want the extra $ for the holiday season and plan to work retail, evenings and weekends are when you are most needed. The 9-5 M-F shifts are already covered by those who work there year round.
