20/20 & Choices

I was watching an old episode of a reality show. Some of the contestants had been on for one season, while others had made multiple appearances with different partners. It was interesting to watch friends of the contestants try to reason with them and give helpful advice. But it was dismissed. They wanted to believe they had found “the one.” Some of these relationships worked out, several went sour, and others were people who put up with one another’s bad behavior. I’m sure when a few of these individuals look back they tell themselves, “Hindsight is 20/20.”

This can happen to anyone. And not just in matters of the heart. But when the same scenario keeps occurring in life, it is time to stop and examine ourselves. Does every car you own always need repairs? Do all the friends you make turn out to be unreliable? Have you been neglecting your health despite having issues in the past? Are you in trouble with the law again?

It is easy to blame another person, or come up with an excuse. We have all done it. But when something occurs over and over, it is a pattern. And we are the ones who make our choices. The direction you take with your life and what happens with it, lies with you.
