Memories showed me a post from when an acquaintance gave me vouchers for several Pirate baseball games. On the day of each game, I wasn’t able to go. Months later I found out the person who gave me the tickets was a liar and the business they claimed to have was made up. This person had also promised the children at a friend’s daycare tickets to Disney on Ice. But when he was contacted for the tickets, he ghosted my friend. Rather than cause a lot of turmoil and hurt feelings, my friend bought tickets and spent $1, 000 of her business’s money so the kids could go. Call it “Divine Intervention” or “a strange coincidence” but there was a reason I was unable to attend those games. My guess is the vouchers were fake. And I was thankful I wasn’t out any money.
I see people on social media who are complaining they are disappointed when someone or something doesn’t work out. I have been there more times than I count. But I keep I in mind we don’t know what is going on behind the scenes. If I don’t get a call back, the opportunity I was hoping for either wasn’t the right one, or didn’t exist. The same holds true for people. Not everyone I meet is going to be a good match. And I am better off moving on to the next thing than being upset over what might have been a fraud.
