This morning while waiting in line at Cinnabon for coffee, I met two twenty something African American guys. They got waited on first and went to sit at the picnic tables outside the restaurant to eat their pastries. After I got my coffee I offered to take their picture. They seemed surprised, but said okay, and the one handed me his camera. I told them they should send photos to their Moms so they know they are safe and eating well. They laughed. After taking a few snaps they thanked me. I told them they should always be making memories because one day we will be old and not able to get out and do for ourselves. They nodded.
I don’t know those guys. But if they lose touch or stay in one another’s lives, I hope they have good memories of their trip to Ocean City. Not just the big events of a trip like swimming in the ocean, bar hopping, or going to the amusement park, but a cinnamon roll breakfast at a boardwalk shop with a friend is something to remember also.
