Customer Service

Not all customer service reps are jerks. I called a 1-800 line for assistance and spoke to a man named Jonathan. Having done customer service for a health care company, I could tell he was semi new to the job. He sounded nervous and didn’t have the flow of the script yet. But he was nice and made sure to go through all the talking points of the contract. I also let him tell me about the specials being offered, and a freebee the company was giving away. As we wrapped up the call, I told him he had been pleasant to talk to and was very informative. I hope his supervisor was listening.

The pandemic changed everything. And they say nobody wants to work anymore. But there are a lot of new people in positions which require taking care of the public. And if someone wasn’t called back to their old job or the company eliminated their position, they have to take what is available to bring home a paycheck. You may be having a bad day, or irritated you have to wait in line, but try to remember the person at the other end may still be learning the ropes.
