Problems

They say to be careful of who you take your problems to. I firmly believe that. Have you ever noticed certain individuals chose only to be around in times of crisis? And when everything is fine, they don’t have time for you. But why? Here are a few of the conclusions I have drawn.

  1. So they can know your business. Some people are just plain nosy.
  2. They are a gossiper and need new information to pass around.
  3. For a pat on the back for being a friend in your time of need. And to advertise to others what a good person they are for being there.
  4. To make it about them. I know someone who is always campaigning for friends and loved ones on death’s door, who lost everything in a tragic event, or who are going through a horrible experience. And if I try to make pleasant conversation they always circle back to talking about another person’s problems.

We all go through rough patches. But next time you hit one, think before you speak about it to anyone. Some things you can get through on your own, by journaling, or seeking the help of a professional. Other people don’t necessarily need to know everything that goes on in your life. Especially if they cannot be trusted.
