When I was in my 20’s a friend of mine and I were hanging out and on a whim decided to go for a drink. We went to a random tavern not far from us. I walked in and noticed the place had a weird vibe. I sat down at the bar and a man who looked to be in his 30’s came over and tried to start a conversation. I gave him short answers hoping he would get the hint and leave. When I turned my head away from him to show disinterest, I heard my drink fizz. **He put something in it.** My friend was standing behind me watching some guys play darts, and she heard it also. She asked if I was finished and I said yes I was done. A few minutes later we left. She asked me outside if I knew he tainted my drink and I said yes.

I shudder to think of what could have happened that night. Not just to me, but my friend to. We were both in harms way but by the grace of God, my attention was not diverted when I looked away. For all we know, the other patrons were working with the guy who spiked my drink. And the bartender was a female. She might have been in on it also.

From time to time alerts and stories go out telling women to be careful. not to look away, and not to put down their drink at social gatherings. But men should be aware also. There is no shortage of weirdos in this world waiting for an opportunity to do something shady.
