Closed due to Coronavirus

FB memories showed me how 3 years ago this week businesses started closing because of Covid. The store I managed was open and closed four times before corporate decided to furlough it’s employees and close for the shutdown. A few months after it was lifted, they announced at the end of the year our location would close.

Our clientele was shocked and disappointed. The store did well, but not great. Many asked if it was due to Covid and I would reply it was a corporate decision. I had no information and I didn’t want to get into a discussion about something that was beyond my control. But in my opinion, (that I did not share at the time) the company had plans to close us before Covid came along. I have worked for places that had layoffs, downsized, or were sold to a competitor. I’m not saying I can see things coming, but not much surprises me in the workplace anymore. And no matter how long you have worked for an organization or how well you think you know your bosses, at the end of the day, you are a number. They don’t have to give you a heads up. I have also learned some businesses don’t have a plan. aren’t structured well, and don’t make wise financial decisions. But they do a good job of pretending they do.

So when you walk into work today I suggest you be prepared for anything…..
