I was driving to work the other day when I saw flashing lights behind me. I got pulled me over because I didn’t have my license plate on my car, it was in the rear window. I explained to the officer it fell off and I hadn’t had a chance to put it back on. I assured him the car was mine and all my paperwork was up to date. He verified my license and told me to put the plate back on later that day. I promised him I would, and thanked him for doing his job. Why thank him? Because there are plenty of people who go to work but don’t do a darn thing. Have you come in for your shift to find a mess? Is there someone at your work who pushes papers around but gets nothing done? Have you ever hired someone for a job and they don’t show up? If you have been in any of those situations it is frustrating and it makes more work for everyone else. So while we should practice gratitude for the things we have, I am thankful for the people who show up, pay attention, and do what they are expected to do. And I put my license plate back on.
