Eleven years ago I was working for a healthcare company and doing Massage Therapy on the side. I met Doug Taylor (the one in the chair) at this event who became a very good friend. He offered me a job, but I had to decline. When you start in a client based business, you need to build your book in order to make $. It would have taken me a while to achieve a steady income. I didn’t like turning him down, but when I look back I see how the universe had it’s reasons. The following spring I got laid off. I was able to get unemployment, which paid the rent, and the company let us keep our health insurance for several months. During that time I had to have a procedure to remove skin cancer. If I had not had insurance, it would have cost thousands. After I recovered, I landed a position at a chiropractor and my massage career took off.
This picture is reminding me to stay patient. If you don’t like where you are, it isn’t always best to jump ship. If you listen to your gut and wait it out, things will turn around for the better.
